As part of the 31st Dresdner Tage der zeitgenössischen Musik (Dresden Days of Contemporary Music) / HELLERAU – Europäisches Zentrum der Künste
Aribert Reimann (*1936) is one of Germany’s leading composers at work today. With eleven stage works to date including »Lear« (1978), the chamber opera »Die Gespenstersonate« (1983) or most recently »L’Invisible« (2017), he has shaped and continues to shape the contemporary operatic repertoire. In the 2019/2020 season, Aribert Reimann was the Staatskapelle’s composer-in-residence. To mark his 85th birthday in 2021, the symposium »A Day for Aribert Reimann« was scheduled to accompany the new production of »Die Gespenstersonate« ... Mixing expert talks with musical contributions and discussion of the Dresden premiere of »Die Gespenstersonate«, the event gives you the opportunity to get to know Aribert Reimann’s hugely diverse lyrical and dramatic oeuvre.
The event is aimed at both experts and the general public.
It takes place in the »Kleiner Saal« of the Carl Maria von Weber College of Music.
The programme can be seen on the German webpage (in German only).
