»Tosca« with Angela Gheorghiu

Following her highly acclaimed performances of Mimì in »La bohème« in December 2018, Angela Gheorghiu will again take to the Semperoper stage in a Puccini opera when, on 1 and 7 June, she appears as Floria Tosca. Ms Gheorghiu regularly sings the title role of »Tosca« at the Metropolitan Opera, the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden as well as the State Operas of Vienna and Berlin.

She will be joined by Riccardo Massi as Cavaradossi and John Lundgren as Scarpia. This staging of »Tosca« by Johannes Schaaf, which premiered at the Semperoper in January 2009, features Christof Cremer’s impressively minimalist, almost abstract, stage design, which leaves space for the performers to move and encounter one another.
The Staatskapelle Dresden will play under the baton of Stefano Ranzani.
