Yuletide music

It’s the traditional start to the festive season for classical music lovers all over Germany, when, on the eve of the first Advent Sunday, the Frauenkirche in all its Baroque splendour welcomes many international guests and the Staatskapelle for a very special concert. An array of illustrious artists have previously accepted the invitation to perform in this highly symbolic place of worship. And this season we can once again look forward to two brilliant performers, namely Hanna-Elisabeth Müller and Piotr Beczała. On the rostrum for the traditional Advent Concert will be principal conductor Christian Thielemann, who last appeared at this event six years ago. Together with the musicians and soloists, he will fill the Frauenkirche with the spirit of Christmas, from where, thanks to public broadcaster ZDF, it will be transmitted into numerous living rooms around the country.
