Special events for families

The Semperoper Dresden offers a diverse programme for visitors of all ages. In the 2024/25 season, a family opera will be performed for the first time in the main auditorium of the opera house. Maurice Ravel’s “Das Kind und der Zauberspuk” is certain to enchant your eyes and ears. Get in the mood for this magical theatre experience by attending our pre-performance talk in the Semperoper’s opera cellar.

Family performances

In addition to Maurice Ravel’s family opera Das Kind und der Zauberspuk (L’enfant et les sortilèges), the Semperoper particularly recommends The Magic Flute, La bohème, The Nutcracker and Hansel and Gretel. In our Semper Zwei venue, where the audience is practically on stage with the performers, you can enjoy Drei miese, fiese Kerle and Schneewitte as well as the opera humanoid for young audiences aged 13 and over. Children of all ages will enjoy the events in our Kapelle für Kids.

At family performances you benefit from a lower ticket price, with children paying only 5 euros. Please note that babies and toddlers (as well as prams/pushchairs) are not allowed into performances.

Prices in Semper Zwei: from 12 euros, with discount: 6 euros

Please note our age recommendations if you are planning a visit to the Semperoper with children.
