Salvador Mateu Andujar

Costume Design

The costume designer, milliner and prop maker Salvador Mateu Andujar works for opera, theatre, ballet, cinema and fashion design. He regularly works with the designer Jesus del Pozo as well as renowned costume designers such as Yvonne Blake, Franca Squarciapino, Eiko Ishioka, Françoise Tournafond, Madeline Fontaine, Pierre-Jean Larroque and Pedro Moreno. Special projects have included collaborations with the Pierre Bergé Foundation for Nature Conservation and Yves Saint Laurent on African tribal headdresses and with Dior Heritage for the exhibition Dior, un couturier de rêve at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in the Louvre, Paris. He has worked several times with director Ulysse Di Gregorio and with the French choreographer David Drouard. At the invitation of Swedish choreographer Johan Inger, Salvador Mateu Andujar was responsible for the costume design of a new creation of Igor Stravinsky's ballet »Petrushka« with Les Ballets de Monte Carlo in 2018. Jean-Christophe Maillot, artistic director and choreographer of Les Ballets de Monte Carlo, then invited him to design the costumes for his creation »Core Meu« (2019). At the Semperoper Dresden, he is responsible for the costumes for the world premiere of »A Swan Lake« by Johan Inger. (Status: 2023)
