Nanette Glushak

Nanette Glushak became a member of New York City Ballet in 1968. In 1971, she joined the American Ballet Theatre where she danced principal roles in classical ballets such as »Don Quixote«, »Swan Lake«, »Giselle«, »La Fille mal gardée«, »The Sleeping Beauty«, »La Bayadère«, »Coppélia«, »La Sylphide« and in productions by Rudolf Nureyev, Natalia Makarova, Erik Bruhn and Mikhail Baryshnikov. Her repertoire embraced creations by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Antony Tudor, Sir Frederick Ashton, Alvin Ailey, Rudy van Dantzig, Twyla Tharp, Lar Lubovitch, John Neumeier, Sir Kenneth MacMillan, Glen Tetley, Merce Cunningham, Paul Taylor and Roland Petit. She became Co-Director of the Dallas Fort-Worth Ballet in 1983, together with Michel Rahn, and restaged the repertoire of Mr Balanchine and other classics for four years. Since 1987, Nanette Glushak has been staging his works throughout the world. She also has been invited as guest teacher and stager of the classical repertoire worldwide. In 1989, she was appointed as Artistic Director of the Scottish Ballet, and was the Director of the Ballet du Capitole from 1994 to 2012. In 2004, Ms Glushak restaged many performances across Europe. Up to now, the companies she has worked for include The Stuttgart Ballet, Royal Ballet of England, Dutch National Ballet, Bavarian State Ballet, Hungarian National Ballet, Vienna State Ballet, among many others. Currently, she is continuing to stage George Balanchine’s creations and works as a guest teacher for many ballet companies in Europe. (Status: 2024)
