Jonathan Holby

Jonathan Holby is a Fight Choreographer, Action Designer and Stuntman. He has choreographed for leading companies and venues both on a national and international level, and his work has ranged from martial arts coordination on film through to immersive shows and award-winning productions.

Having started his training in Shotokan Karate at the age of seven and after obtaining his first dan, Jonathan taught his own class alongside his father. While studying as an actor, he was introduced to performance combat which has greatly influenced his approach to creating character driven action. For film, Jonathan can also assist with Camera and Editing departments to work, as a team, towards the best possible result. As a member of the reserve battalion in the British Army, he can offer a first-hand insight to what soldiering is like for actors, teaching the correct methods of combat within the British Military and therefore ensuring accuracy of performance.

Jonathan’s theatre experience includes The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (Gillian Lynne); Killer Joe (Trafalgar Studios) as well as The Duchess of Malfi (Almeida), amongst others. His film productions include Black Dog (Fight Coordinator), One Ranger and Boudica (Stunts), amongst others.
