Eric Trope

Ballet Master

Eric Trope is a freelance choreographer, ballet dancer, repetiteur, and community organizer. Some of his recent choreographic commissions include the New Jersey Ballet, Lexington Ballet, The Joffrey Ballet Concert Group, the Nantucket Atheneum Dance Festival, the Miami City Ballet School Pre-Professional Division, the New York Choreographic Institute, and Dimensions Dance Theater of Miami. In April 2021, Mr Trope finished his eighth season with the Miami City Ballet. He previously danced with the Pennsylvania Ballet for four seasons and most recently was a guest artist with BalletX and Ballet Tucson. Mr Trope’s broad repertoire includes Riff in Robbins' »West Side Story Suite«, Phlegmatic in Balanchine's »The Four Temperaments«, Johnny in Taylor's »Company B«, and the Paul Taylor solo in Balanchine's »Episodes«, amongst others. Eric Trope has toured extensively, for example, in the New York State Theater and New York City Center, the Music Center and Segerstrom Center in Los Angeles, the Kennedy Center, and the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. He has worked as a repetiteur for Justin Peck’s oeuvre, staging his creation »Heatscape« for the Finnish National Ballet in Helsinki, Spain’s National Dance Company in Madrid and at The National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, Eric Trope is a co-founder of Buddy System, a nonprofit focused on food insecurity that was started in response to the Miami community’s immense need during the Covid-19 Pandemic.
