Jesper Kongshaug studied in the USA and has worked for numerous theatres, opera houses, ballet companies, performance groups and TV productions; he is considered one of Denmark’s most radical and innovative lighting designers. He works for established theatres as well as experimental theatre and performance groups, and also develops lighting concepts for architectural projects. In 2008, he won the Nordic Lighting Prize in Helsinki and the Danish Lighting Prize for his work at the Royal Danish Theatre. His productions have taken him to venues such as the Danish Royal Opera House, the Royal Swedish Opera, the Theater an der Wien, the Kolobov Novaya Opera Theatre, the San Francisco Opera, and the Boston Lyric Opera.
