Covid-19 updates: information for visitors

Performances cancelled until 9 January 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic

In agreement with the Saxon State Theatres, the Saxon State Ministry of Science, Culture and Tourism has decided to extend the suspension of performances up to and including Sunday, 9 January 2022. The measure will affect all venues of the Semperoper and the Staatsschauspiel Dresden. With their decision, those responsible for the two institutions as well as the relevant governmental departments are reacting to the still alarming pandemic in Saxony while also taking account of the complex planning processes required for stage productions.

Tickets already purchased for the cancelled performances will be refunded. A ticket return form is available for this purpose.

For all other ticket returns, please contact pur Vistor Service by email at

Ticket returns

Do I get my money back for cancelled performances?

You can choose between a refund in the form of a voucher or a cash refund by bank transfer; alternatively, you can decide to donate the ticket price.

  • Semperoper vouchers are valid for three years and can be redeemed for almost all events of the Semperoper Dresden (apart from for exclusive events, non-subscription events and guest performances). In this context, please note that all vouchers with an expiry date of 31 December 2021 have been automatically extended by us for one year and are therefore now valid until 31 December 2022.
  • If you would like us to transfer the refund, please give us details of your bank account.
  • You can also donate the ticket price. This money will benefit the »New ways of interaction« project of our Semperoper Education department.

Hygiene rules

What do you have to observe when visiting a performance?

In order to make it possible to visit a performance, the following hygiene rules currently apply (please note that incidence-dependent adjustments may be necessary):

  • Adults and young people aged 16 and over must present proof of vaccination or recovery from COVID-19 infection at the entrance.
  • Children between 6 and 16 years of age who cannot show proof of vaccination or recovery must present a test result no older than 24 hours (or 48 hours for a PCR test) in accordance with the current Saxon Coronavirus Protection Regulations and the existing hygiene concept.
  • Saxon school children attending a performance as a school group are exempt from this requirement to provide a test result, as they are subject to current testing in schools in accordance with the Saxon School and Daycare Corona Ordinance.
  • Persons who cannot be vaccinated for health reasons must present a medical certificate confirming this fact and a test result no older than 24 hours old (48 hours for a PCR test) in accordance with the current Saxon Coronavirus Protection Regulations and the existing hygiene concept.
  • Tickets are personalised and issued in the name of the ticket purchaser. Admission to the performance is granted to the ticket purchaser and his or her companions. Tickets are not transferable. Please note that our staff may ask for a suitable ID at the entrance.
  • Please maintain a distance of 1.5 m.
  • Visitors displaying symptoms of a possible Covid-19 infection will be refused admission.
  • It is compulsory to wear a surgical mask or an FFP2 mask – except when the seat has been taken. Please bring your own surgical mask. Excluded are people who for medical reasons are provable exempt from wearing a mask.
  • There is only limited catering service offered.

If the performance cannot be attended due to the 2G rule, tickets can be returned in this special case as a gesture of goodwill. Please contact the visitor service at in good time (at the latest: one working day before the performance), providing your IBAN number to enable the refund payment. Note that a refund can only be issued when tickets have been returned to us. Please send your tickets by post to: Semperoper Dresden, Besucherservice, Theaterplatz 2, 01067 Dresden. For Print@Home tickets or tickets returned at short notice, please send us a photo of your tickets – clearly crossed out by pen – as an e-mail attachment.
