It is painful to lovers of the French language that »Carmen« is often regarded as a Spanish opera, while »Faust« is supposed to be archetypically Germanic. In fact, these works are the most famous French operas in the repertoire. The Second Dresden Opera Gala will not only present extracts from these immortal masterpieces and other compositions by Bizet, Gounod and Berlioz, but will also shine a light on many other less well-known operatic gems from our Gallic neighbour. Visitors to this brilliant gala evening will enjoy some of the most beautiful operatic arias, the most stirring duets and the greatest ensembles, as well as concert works, all performed by soloists of Saxon State Opera together with the great Staatskapelle Dresden.
