The Junges Ensemble of the Saxonian State Opera Dresden (Semperoper)
Spring board to the Main Stage
To sing on the main stage of the Semperoper is for many promising singers from all over the world a dream. Since 2004, through the Junges Ensemble of the Saxonian State Opera Dresden, this dream has become reality for select young vocalists of exceptional talent.
For a minimum of one season, the Ensemble offers aspiring operatic performers state-of-the art individual training, as well as the chance to perform in the Junge Szene, scenic evenings, concerts and projects of the Junges Ensemble, as well as small and medium roles in new and repertoire productions on the main stage.
The program also includes regular masterclasses, coachings, role preparation and German language classes as necessary.
Past members value the direct exchange and intense collaboration with their colleagues of the State Opera’s ensemble during rehearsals and performances, as well as the many encounters with international guest soloists of highest caliber.
Since 2010 the Junges Ensemble also welcomes coaches. In the same year it has been recognized with a prize from the esteemed Foundation for the Support of the Semperoper in 2010.
Interested artists who stand at the beginning of a promising career and have not reached the age of 28 (women) and 30 (men), may apply for the Junges Ensemble for season 2014/15 as of December 2013. Qualified coach/accompanists are also regularly sought and are encouraged to apply. Detailed information on how to apply for an audition may be found here.
