Audiences in the 2012/13 season can once again enjoy an evening of modern ballet, this time featuring the work of three leading figures of contemporary dance: Helen Pickett, Jiří Kylián and Ohad Naharin.
Helen Pickett has created her new piece »Zwischen(t)raum« on Hans Werner Henze’s ballet music »Das Vokaltuch der Kammersängerin Rosa Silber«, thereby honouring a composer who occupies a prominent position in the upcoming season.
Jiří Kylián, an idol for many contemporary choreographers, brings his »Bella Figura« to Dresden. In this work from 1998, the long-time Artistic Director of the Nederlands Dans Theater explores the meaning of identity, as well as the relationship between the sexes.
The dance works of Ohad Naharin are performed by major companies around the world. Since 1990 the choreographer has collaborated with his Batsheva Dance Company, based in Tel Aviv, to push back the boundaries of modern dance, promoting a fearlessly sensual form of movement.
