The 13th »Dresden Prize« will be awarded this year at a special event. This international peace prize was established in 2010 to commemorate the wartime destruction of Dresden and recognize the extraordinary achievements of outstanding individuals who have worked to foster peace and prevent conflict. In 2021, the prize went to the Spanish doctor Cristina Campos Marín, representing all the dedicated medical personnel around the world who have did such extraordinary work during the coronavirus pandemic. Past winners have included Syrian activist Muzoon Almellehan, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Kim Phuc Phan Thi as well as the Olympic gold medallist and civil rights campaigner, Dr Tommie Smith. The recipient of the Dresden Prize 2022 will be announced in December 2021.
