This year, the 13th »Dresden Prize « will once again be bestowed at festive award ceremony. Inspired by the destruction of Dresden as a warning against the devastating impact of war, the international award for peace was set up in 2010 to honour the extraordinary achievements of outstanding figures who have worked to resolve conflict and prevent escalation. The 2022 nominee, lawyer Roger Cox, is coming to Dresden in 2023 to finally receive his prize. Representing Dutch environmental organisations and citizens, he won an exemplary climate lawsuit against the Shell corporation. Previous award winners include the Spanish doctor Cristina Campos Marín, the UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Kim Phuc Phan Thi and the Olympic champion and civil rights campaigner Dr Tommie Smith. The winner of the Dresden Prize 2023 will be announced in December 2022.
