With members of the Semperoper ensemble
The 2022/23 season will feature not only »L’Orfeo« by Claudio Monteverdi – the first staged performance of the original 1607 version at the Semperoper – and the world premiere of the artificial intelligence opera »chasing waterfalls«, but also plenty of musical surprises, exciting discoveries, rarely heard works and, of course, old favourites. Under the musical direction of Johannes Wulff-Woesten, members of the opera ensemble will present excerpts from Giuseppe Verdi’s »La traviata«, Vincenzo Bellini’s »La sonnambula« and Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky’s »Pique Dame«. Dramaturges Juliane Schunke and Benedikt Stampfli will guide the audience through the programme and, in conversation with Artistic Director Peter Theiler, explore the various considerations that went into designing the programme.
