International Dance Festival Dresden 2015
June 19th to July 8th 2015
For the very first time the Semperoper Ballett is organizing an International Dance Festival in Dresden to be held from 19 June to 8 July 2015. The event is being run together with HELLERAU – European Centre for the Arts and in cooperation with the Palucca University of Dance Dresden. The particular aim of the Festival is to present both classical and contemporary dance of the highest standard in order to give Dresden audiences the opportunity to explore the similarities and contrasts within a huge variety of dance styles. Some of the world’s greatest choreographers will be represented, from the Forsythe Company to Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker with her company Rosas and the Israeli Batsheva Dance Company under the direction of Ohad Naharin, to name but a few. Renowned for their stylistic versatility and flexibility, the dancers of Semperoper Ballett will display their entire range of creative expression from classical narrative ballets such as »Swan Lake« to Dawson’s »Giselle«, Forsythe’s »Impressing the Czar« and the concentrated clarity of the modern pieces in the Ballet Evening entitled »Nordic Lights«. The programme will be rounded off by a Soirée from the Palucca University of Dance Dresden.
