Two documentary films on the opera productions »Die andere Frau« (The Other Wife) by Torsten Rasch and »Die kahle Sängerin« (The Bald Soprano) by Luciano Chailly are now available for streaming via the Semperoper’s media library.
Various scenes filmed from an unusual perspective as well as interviews with the composer Torsten Rasch, who created the commissioned work »Die andere Frau« for the Semperoper, and the conductor of Chailly’s »Die kahle Sängerin«, Thomas Leo Cadenbach, give insights into the compositional aspects of the two opera works and their creators. The documentary of »Die kahle Sängerin« was made possible by the generous support of the Sächsische Semperoper Stiftung.
Following the celebrated Dresden premieres in January 2022, Saxon State Opera commissioned the documentaries of these productions, which are such brilliant examples of contemporary music-making. With the world premiere of »Die andere Frau« in the Semperoper and the German premiere of »Die kahle Sängerin« in Semper Zwei, Dresden’s opera house, under the directorship of Peter Theiler, once again consolidated its longstanding reputation as a champion of modern music.
The Semperoper will celebrate its next world premiere with the commissioned work »Die Jüdin von Toledo« (The Jewess of Toledo) by Detlev Glanert in the 2023/24 season, generously supported by the Stiftung Semperoper – Förderstiftung.
