Fundraising project of the Semperoper Dresden

New educational formats

Innovative concepts of Semperoper Education for today and tomorrow

Due to the measures aimed at containing the Covid-19 pandemic, school classes are currently unable to attend performances at the Semperoper or Semper Zwei. Furthermore, our education team and artists are not permitted to make school visits. Yet in these extraordinary times, it is vital to maintain and promote the Semperoper’s work with young people.

We have the challenge of developing new ideas and formats that, while maintaining a safe distance, continue to ensure access to Semperoper Education’s various projects and allow interaction with youngsters. Ideally, they should also prove useful even after the current situation. Digital formats make it easy to reach children and young people outside Dresden and throughout Saxony in order to give them an insight into the various facets of life and work at a theatre as well as to offer them their very first experiences with music and dance theatre.

As soon as possible, we also want to present our ensembles from the Semperoper, the Staatskapelle and Semperoper Ballett by means of small performances. To this end, we are commissioning freelance composers, choreographers and other artists to develop, among other things, short operas and individual scenes that can be performed in schoolyards, for example.

Your donation will help us implement projects that, despite distancing and hygiene rules, will once again bring music, theatre and dance into the ears and hearts of Saxony’s schoolchildren..

Thank you very much!
