Masashi Mori wurde in Toyama, Japan geboren. Der Bass studierte von 2002 bis 2005 an der Tokyo University of Arts und schloss seine Ausbildung mit dem Master of Music ab. Anschließend setzte er seine Studien von 2005 bis 2008 an der Akademie des New National Theatre in Tokio fort und erhielt dort seinen Abschluss als Opernsänger. Masashi Mori gewann 2008 den 1. Preis beim Gesangswettbewerb der Italiana-Japanese Association in Tokio. Von 2009 bis 2011 wechselte er ans Opernstudio des Teatro Comunale di Bologna und sang dort Partien wie Fünfter Jude (»Salome«) und Dottore Grenvil (»La traviata«), außerdem Jesus in der Matthäus-Passion sowie das Stabat Mater von Franz Liszt. Am Teatro Lirico di Cagliari trat er als Dottore Grenvil (»La traviata«) und Zuniga (»Carmen«) auf, beim Festival della Valle d'Itria u.a. als Licinio (»Aureliano in Palmira«), Ercole (»Il novello di Giasone«) sowie Commendatore (»Il convitato di pietra«).
