Since October 2005 the Frauenkirche stands proudly once again in all its Baroque glory, a symbol both for peace and for the reconstruction of an entire city. The Sächsische Staatskapelle has accompanied the rebuilding process from the start, with countless benefit concerts and the annual advent concerts «From the Frauenkirche building site» organised by Public broadcaster ZDF. In November 2005 Fabio Luisi conducted the Staatskapelle in Beethoven’s «Missa Solemnis» as part of celebrations marking the church’s completion. Since then the orchestra has made regular appearances in addition to its concerts in the Semperoper. During this season the Kapelle will give three star-studded «Concerts in the Frauenkirche». A major highlight will be a concert under the direction of Daniel Harding in remembrance of the 200th birthday of Robert Schumann. In addition the orchestra will perform again at the next ZDF Advent Concert – a traditional event which was continued in the newly reopened church as early as 2006.
