Belmonte lets himself be hired incognito in Bassa Selim’s palace because Selim has captured his bride Constance, her lady-in-waiting Blonde and the servant Pedrillo. Bassa wants to gain the love of Constance, but she is in love with Belmonte. With a lot of cunning, it looks like the lovers will be able to escape the Seraglio. But the plan is foiled at the last moment by Osmin, a guard in the service of Bassa. Bassa Selim forgives everyone and lets the lovers go home.
