A warm welcome to the kleine szene, the studio theatre of the Semper Opera. From 1920 to 1942, Mary Wigman, the dancer, choreographer and teacher of expressive dance, lived and worked here. Surrounded by the historical spirit of the place, experimentation, improvisation and innovation have also found a home here.

The kleine szene belongs to the musical theatre of both the past and the present. It is the laboratory of the Semper Opera, with a seating capacity of 99 that guarantees intimate proximity to the audience. Educational work for children in both music and theatre plays a very significant role here. The Semper Opera’s kleine szene is supported by the Sparkassen-Versicherung Sachsen.
