The emotionally-charged singing of Anne Schwanewilms blends a natural beauty with suppleness and clarity. An intelligent performer and charismatic actress, she is one of the modern age’s leading interpreters of Richard Strauss. The soprano from Gelsenkirchen has graced the concert stage under such conductors as Myung-Whun Chung, Lorin Maazel, Giuseppe Sinopoli and Daniel Barenboim. In 2002 the opera magazine »Opernwelt« selected her as their »Singer of the Year«. In 2005 she appeared in the Semper Opera House, performing the title role in Strauss’s opera »Die Liebe der Danae«. The soprano can also be seen as the Marschallin in a DVD production of »Rosenkavalier« conducted by music director Fabio Luisi. The opera was recorded during a Semper Opera company tour to Tokyo in the autumn of 2007.
