success of »Young Choreographers«, which last season was performed for the
first time at Volkswagen’s Transparent Manufactory (Die Gläserne Manufaktur von Volkswagen), Semperoper Ballett now
intends to go one step further.
Choreographers create danceworks by specifying certain steps and series of movements in space. In a creative process, the artists delineate forms that are realised in space and time. The final work is of course presented by dancers, between whom relationships arise within the piece. Other media and creative elements may play a part, such as lighting, scenery, props, video projection, costumes, make-up, etc. Together, these elements produce an electrifying work of art that has the power to thrill audiences in many different ways.
An exciting choreography, however, still requires the right external conditions. This challenge is ideally met in the extraordinary interior of the Transparent Manufactory, which offers surfaces, spaces, perspectives and, not least, a (real or imagined) contrast between the artistic and the manufacturing process.
